What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is a natural purified protein that is used to treat muscular conditions and cosmetically remove wrinkles. It is injected directly into the neuromuscular tissue and works by blocking the message from the nerve to the muscle. It is generally considered a relatively safe procedure.
Reasons to Consider BOTOX® in Edmonton
If you’re dissatisfied with the lines and wrinkles on your face or are looking to further your career by enhancing your physical appearance, you may want to consider BOTOX® treatments. Here are some reasons you may want to look into getting BOTOX® from our Edmonton professionals:
What to Expect for Your BOTOX® Treatments
Your treatment will take about 15-20 minutes. Although very rare, typical side effects include tenderness and bruising in the injection site, headaches, or ptosis (eyelid drooping). These usually occur within the first week and are typically gone in 7-10 days. Results may take up to 14 days to take full effect, and will wear off naturally within 3-4 months.
Dr. Bowker recommends getting BOTOX® treatments done once every 3-4 months. The amount of BOTOX® that will be required for your procedure depends on what type of results you are seeking. Booking a free consultation appointment will help us provide you with more information on costs and will allow you to ask your doctor any questions regarding BOTOX® treatment.
Post Treatment Care for BOTOX®
Dr. Bowker recommends that you try to exercise your treated muscle for 1-2 hours after treatment (example: practise frowning, raising your eyebrows, or squinting.) This helps to work the BOTOX® into your muscles. Although this is thought to help, it will NOT impact your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.
Dr. Bowker also recommends that you attend a follow up appointment two weeks after your initial BOTOX® treatment. This will ensure Dr. Bowker is able to see how your facial muscles reacted to your treatment. If you require more product to fine-tune/adjust your treatment results, it will be applied during this treatment at an additional cost. Dr. Bowker recommends that you avoid facials and saunas, do not lie down, do not perform strenuous exercise, and do not rub or massage the treated areas for at least 4 hours after your treatment.
